This week we had the absolute pleasure of handing over 77 pairs of socks to The People’s Kitchen Newcastle — a simple moment, but one that carried a great deal of meaning for us.
Those 77 pairs were donated directly because of you.
Following a superb Black Friday weekend, we promised that your support would be passed on locally, and today we were proud to see that promise fulfilled. Every pair will help someone stay warmer through the coldest months of the year — something none of us should ever take for granted.
We chose to donate our ‘Yorkshire - Short’ style, a warm and insulating sock. Made here in the UK, it’s the sock we rely on ourselves in winter — and it felt right to give something practical, durable, and genuinely comforting.
Why this matters now more than ever
In the past week, new figures showed that homelessness in the UK has risen by 8% over the last year. Behind that statistic are real people facing longer, colder nights, often with very little. It’s sobering news — but it also makes small, tangible acts of kindness all the more important.
The People’s Kitchen does extraordinary work in Newcastle, offering food, warmth, and dignity to those who need it most. We’re incredibly grateful to them for everything they do, quietly and consistently, week in, week out.
A festive thank you
This donation isn’t about us — it’s about what can happen when a community supports a small business that, in turn, supports its community. Every order placed, every gift bought, played a part in this.
As we head into the festive season, we wanted to share this moment with you and say thank you. Your support has quite literally helped keep feet warmer this winter — and that’s something we’re immensely proud of.
From all of us at Capricorn Mohair Socks, thank you for being part of it.
