Warm and Comfortable
Mohair is a fibre that is well known for its properties of warmth and comfort. It therefore produces socks that are ideal when you want warm and comfortable feet
Hard Wearing
Mohair is a very hard wearing fibre and is used for fabrics in aircraft seats for this reason. Many of our customers tell us that they have purchased ‘good quality’ socks from well known stores and they have worn out within 3 or 4 months. Whereas their Capricorn Mohair Socks are still wearing well!
Machine Washable
You can wash your Mohair socks in a washing machine on a warm wool wash cycle, without worrying about excessive shrinkage. When we visit shows selling our socks it’s not unusual for customers to proudly bring their Capricorn Mohair Socks they bought the previous year and show us how well they have worn and washed.
Do not smell after use!
If you look at wool under a microscope you see little burrs. These burrs provide a hiding place for bacteria that make wool socks smell. Mohair is a smooth fibre and has no hiding places for bacteria and that is why Mohair Socks do not smell!!

Use hair conditioner, socks your socks in hair conditioner and it will loosen the fibres up again. This method is also a great way to give your socks a new ‘lease of life’

Why do you add nylon to the Mohair?
Mohair has lots of strength and resistance to abrasion, but not much elasticity – so we add a special sort of nylon which augments the nylon but doesn’t detract from it’s benefits.
WHY DON’T THEY SMELL?

Being a hair, you could argue that it is more natural to wear mohair than wool from sheep. We have lots of customers with sensitive skin who wear our sock without any trouble. If you do have sensitive skin, why not try a pair of our cream coloured socks, they are not dyed to are kinder and softer on your feet.

I bought my first pair earlier in the year and have loved them so much I’ve just bought 3 more pairs! I really like the looseness around the ankle., they fit well, are easy to wash and don’t shrink, and most importantly are very comfortable and warm, but don’t overheat your feet either. Great product
Wonderful socks as always, they are v comfy, I really like the Sussex as not tight around the ankles, but don’t fall down! Stay really fresh.
Extremely comfortable socks which do not grip leg and ankle too tightly. Wash very well at 40 degrees and don’t shrink! Don’t get smelly either. Fabulous range of colours . Love them!
There are no better socks.
They say "probably the best socks", I say DEFINITELY the best socks. Beautiful, soft, comfortable, hard wearing, great colours and high quality. I inherited 2 pairs of Capricorn socks from my mum and I don't think I'll ever wear any others. I bought 7 pairs with some of her inheritance and am looking forward to exploring the rest of the collection. Thank you Capricorn!
I bought myself and my adult kids Capricorn Sussex socks- we all love them. They are a great fit- whether you have really broad feet like mine or narrow like my kids. Great quality & colours. I particularly like how they aren’t tight around bottom of legs, but don’t fall down. These will be my ‘go to’ socks from now on!
Loving the casual look of my new cream socks with my converse boots, they feel so comfy and are keeping my feet nice and warm as we come into Autumn.
Absolutely love my cosy, cream Sussex socks. I wear them to work as they are so comfortable and look stylish. I also like the way that the Sussex doesn't cling to the ankle so you get a much more casual look. They wash in the machine on 30 degrees but I advise shaping them back when damp by gently pulling widthways.
Been buying these socks for years and wear them every day, would not be without them.

These are great socks. Comfy, British created and from 'hair' allowing you to wear them a few times in a row and last well (2+ years!). It's about the only new item of clothing i buy so v good value, and perfect if you do a lot of walking!

I am a shoe size 8 or 8.5 so chose the medium size. I am not a size 7 so didnt choose the small size. But sadly the socks are too big. I'm hoping they will shrink. Nice sock apart from sizing.

I usually travel to Elements in Rothbury to stock up on Capricorn socks . First time I have bought from Capricorn direct . Very impressed . Socks in stock and arrived the following day . I love Capricorn socks . Last and last . Wash beautifully. Good colour choice and DONT SMELL even after a long day in wellington boots ! Would certainly recommend and often give them as presents .
