Mohair is a fibre that is well known for its properties of warmth and comfort. It therefore produces socks that are ideal when you want warm and comfortable feet
Hard Wearing
Mohair is a very hard wearing fibre and is used for fabrics in aircraft seats for this reason. Many of our customers tell us that they have purchased ‘good quality’ socks from well known stores and they have worn out within 3 or 4 months. Whereas their Capricorn Mohair Socks are still wearing well!
Machine Washable
You can wash your Mohair socks in a washing machine on a warm wool wash cycle, without worrying about excessive shrinkage. When we visit shows selling our socks it’s not unusual for customers to proudly bring their Capricorn Mohair Socks they bought the previous year and show us how well they have worn and washed.
Do not smell after use!
If you look at wool under a microscope you see little burrs. These burrs provide a hiding place for bacteria that make wool socks smell. Mohair is a smooth fibre and has no hiding places for bacteria and that is why Mohair Socks do not smell!!

Being a hair, you could argue that it is more natural to wear mohair than wool from sheep. We have lots of customers with sensitive skin who wear our sock without any trouble. If you do have sensitive skin, why not try a pair of our cream coloured socks, they are not dyed to are kinder and softer on your feet.

First wearing of our Derbyshire socks on our 18.7 mile training walk this morning. Photos of our feet was at the side of the Beacon on Billinge Lump. Rest of photos are on the side of Billinge Lump & at Carr Mill Dam on the last mile before home. Super comfy & kept our feet cool & comfortable.
Superb fit and feel, we absolutely love em, they took the sting out of a brand new pair of unbroken boots, well done that crew.👍🏼

The Derbyshire make for the ideal ski sock as they do not smell, you can wear the same pair all week whilst away! Great selection of colours.
Love my Derbyshire socks when heading out for a walk, I have been wearing them for years.
Over the last 6 weeks I have worn a pair of Derbyshire walking socks on a number of long walks.I have found them to be very comfortable, remain quite odour free, and after eventual washing, hold their length and shape.
Very comfortable. In the past I've always worn two pairs of socks with hiking boots, now I find one pair is sufficient.
Despite being for walking or hiking, these socks don't have any of the usual thicker and thinner areas I'm used to, just one big sock! I also find them surprisingly large - as a size 9.5 wide I wouldn't expect a sock stated as for sizes 8-10 to be as loose as it is. The consequence of this is that my feet seem to move around within my boots, which is odd. I am therefore somewhat disappointed.
So comfortable - and standing up well to some pretty tough testing on a 2 week hike in wet, muddy conditions. ( the no smell claim is true!!!). Without doubt the most comfortable and robust hiking socks I’ve ever worn ( and I’ve tried many!)
Only worn them once so far. Ask me again at the end of May.
I bought this pair of Derbyshire socks for a friend’s birthday. He has had over 5 pairs now and every year he asks for another pair - I will run out of colours soon!

The delivery of my Derbyshire Mohair socks was amazingly quick, in fact less than 24hrs from the time of ordering, and I stay in north east Scotland! On opening the parcel, the lovely hand written short message was a lovely touch I thought. As for the socks, not much to say other than perfect! I have purchased one pair of Derbyshire and one pair of Ayrshire socks to try them out. The Derbyshires were used over several days on a long distance walk and they were so comfortable. They didn’t stiffen with sweat like my traditional woollen hiking socks, gave absolutely no hint of a blister, felt surprisingly cool and,as the supplier claims, they didn’t smell!! I would definitely recommend them, and I shall certainly be buying more to replace my traditional woollen socks!

I bought these to wear at home instead of slippers. They did not disappoint; they were lovely and warm. As expected from the description, I found them a little too thick to be worn with shoes.
I was suffering from disturbed sleep and it was suggested that it may be due to cold feet, disadvantage of getting older, these socks have a loose cuff so don’t affect circulation. Warm, comfortable and I am sleeping better.
This is my 4th pair and I use them for walking every day, both summer and winter. Brilliant. I won’t use any other socks. I’ve tried the manmade fibre socks that walking shops sell and they are no comparison to Capricorn socks. These socks for me are the best and worth every penny. I think Capricorn socks are the most hard wearing, warm walking socks l've ever had. I wear them for walks every day and they literally last for years. The thinner ones for the summer are great too. Sarah
Purchased for my wife who loves them when walking or simply sitting in the house.
Im mostly a cyclist and these days suffer with cold feet. I must admit i already knew these socks help greatly keeping my feet warm as I already had one pair. Cycling shoes have to be compact so socks and shoe covers are the only protection. I’ve been a serious cyclist for 44 years and these socks are the best answer to cold feet I’ve found. I would recommend these socks with a hand on my heart knowing they provide a answer to a life long problem suffering cold feet in winter. Greg Dancer
