Capricorn Mohair socks produce and retails socks throughout a wide range of retailers around the UK.
The largest number of these retailers can be found in Scotland, as Capricorn Mohair socks are based in Northumberland, which is a border county with Scotland.
When we sell socks in Scotland through our retailers we sell them with slightly different names, I often joke that someone in Inverness would not buy Sussex or Surrey socks!
Therefore, our Scottish socks are sold under the following names –
Great Glen - are sold on our website as – Derbyshire
Stirling - are sold on our website as – Surrey
Dunoon - are sold on our website as – Sussex
Fife – are sold on our website as – Yorkshire
Morayshire - are sold on our website as – Northumberland
Ayrshire are sold as Ayrshire (that’s the easy one)
And the same for Dalkeith i.e. no name change.
Dalkeith socks – now here is a good story.
One of the largest trade shows Capricorn Mohair socks attend is in Glasgow, Scotland, this is called the Scotland’s Trade Fair.
On the way back home after one of these trade show, we stopped off for a ‘quick snack’ at the Dalkeith McDonalds fast food restaurant, just south of Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh.
At the time we were developing the Dalkeith Sock for one of our largest customers in Japan.
Feeling a bit ‘fatigued’ after working hard at the Scotland Trade Fair for many days showcasing Capricorn Mohair Socks we decided there and then the all-new sock was going to be named Dalkeith, after the McDonalds restaurant we were sat in. The deadline of naming the sock was the following day so the decision was made there and then.

- Two retailers on Islay, with one of these being the Ardnahoe Distillery Shop, so you can buy your socks alongside your whiskey.
- We have one retailer on the Peninsula of Kintyre, which is the peninsula that leads down to Campbeltown
